Resolute is pleased to welcome Judge Jerry Stokes to our Memphis team of mediators, arbitrators, and special masters. While serving 17 years as a circuit court judge (2005-2022), Judge Stokes presided in over 200 jury trials covering a wide array of civil disputes including; personal injury, medical malpractice, professional malpractice, products liability, insurance (including coverage and bad faith), business/commercial, employment, eminent domain, and financial matters.

Prior to his time as a trial judge, Stokes practiced law with the Stokes, Wilson and Wright Law Firm from 1981 until his appointment to the Circuit Court in 2005. He has also previously worked with Walter L. Bailey, D’Army Bailey, the Memphis Area Legal Services, and is a former assistant district attorney. From 1998 to 2005, Stokes served part-time as an assistant divorce referee in Shelby County. He has also served on many occasions as a special judge for the Shelby County General Sessions Court.

Judge Stokes employs a combination of facilitative and evaluative mediation, supplemented by his 40+ years experience as a litigator and judge. His background, experience and skill make him a highly effective mediator and arbitrator with a proven track record of resolving disputes.
